Introduction
Huang Bin, a famous violinist who is active in the international music scene, is the only one who has won prizes in three major international violin competitions: the Junior Wieniawski International Violin Competition in Lublin, Poland, the Paganini International Violin Competition in Genoa Italy, and the Munich International Music Competition in Germany. The first-prize winning violinist, and served as a judge in the 55th and 57th Paganini International Violin Competition and the 17th Tchaikovsky International Violin Competition.
Huang has been praised by the Italian Newspaper La Stampa, "She is a mesmerizing Oriental violinist whose playing transports people to another realm". This year, Huang, Bin was again invited by the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra of Taiwan to perform the difficult Sergei Prokofiev: Violin Concerto No.1 in D Major, Op.19 at the Concert Hall of National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying) on December 10th. During their tight performance schedule, Huang, Bin and his good friend Hsu, Yu-ying, a pianist who studied at the Eastman School of Music (ESM) in the United States, have arranged to bring an unforgettable aural feast for their Taiwanese fans, in a concert featuring a variety of violin and violin harmony. The concert includes sonatas for violin and piano, where violin and piano are equal in weight in the piece, and there will be endless dialogues and complementary interactions between the two instruments, symbolizing the friendship between the two musicians over the years and the harmonious musical understanding they share.
The concert's repertoire is classical, with the first half of the concert beginning with Beethoven's delightful and smooth “Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 8 in G Major, Op. 30, No. 3”, and then moving on to “Sonata in G minor for Violin and Piano, L. 140”, the last work in the life of Claude Debussy, who was the founder of the French Impressionist School. In the second half of the program, we perform Russian pianist Sergei Rachmaninoff's "Vocalise, Op. 34, No. 14", Johannes Brahms' "Sonata for Piano and Violin No. 2 in A Major, Op. 100", and Joseph Maurice Ravel's “Tzigane”. Interestingly, this year heralds the 150th anniversary of Sergei Rachmaninoff's birth, and the international music world has been honoring this great composer in many diverse ways, so these two musicians have carefully selected Rachmaninoff's classic pieces for all music afficionados. In addition, in Ravel's "Tzigane", the violin's blood-curdlingly difficult virtuosity and free-spirited gypsy character will fully demonstrate violinist Huang, Bin's superb charismatic stage presence, and we look forward to bringing you an unforgettable evening through this feast of classic and colorful music!
