Introduction
The National Cheng Kung University Mandolin Orchestra has now been playing for 16 years. Over this time, as we have experienced a variety of emotions, from gratitude and happiness, to sadness and melancholy, we have come to a peaceful period in our lives, with neither wind nor rain disturbing our quietude!
For our 16th anniversary concert, we will be performing a variety of pieces, including:Estrellita, Eternally, Notte D'amore, Sinfonia Flora, Estudiantena waltz, F. Mendelssohn – Concert Piece in D Minor, No. 2, Op. 114, B. Britten – Simple Symphony, Op. 4, Il canto del diavolo, Poveri Viole, Meditation from Thais, Intermezzo Capriccioso, La Mer, and A Girl at 18 Is Like A Flower, as these are pieces which represent the progressive stages of our growth as a group. From the innocent melodies of children's songs to ever familiar folk tunes, classical music, and passionate global music, we have been exposed to a diverse variety of cultures. In the process we have learned through the universal language of music, how people of all races, cultures, nationalities, and religions find common ground amidst their joys, sorrows, separations, and reunions.
We would like to thank all of our friends who have watched us grow and supported us along this path! We hope you will enjoy this "Metamorphosis" together with us on December 2nd at the Cheng Kung Hall.
