[Puppet Theater +Exhibition] “Puppet is the future”: National Cheng Kung University 92nd Anniversary Puppet Theater and Exhibition 112/11/11 Sun. 14:00


Founded in 1999, The Puppet & Its Double Theatre’s mission is to create challenging and innovative Puppet Arts that touches the heart and mind. Adhering to the creative principle of “everything can be a puppet”, the company creates a new style for contemporary Taiwanese Puppet Arts, as well as an aesthetic imbued with magic and philosophy. The Puppet and Its Double Theatre has been unwavering in its efforts to nurture new talents and local content by establishing the Lìzé Puppet Art Colony in 2013, focusing on international puppetry exchange and talent cultivation. It has since become a leading base for puppet arts innovation in Asia.
This year, the Art Center has invited The Puppet & Its Double Theatre to design a series of puppetry performances in the style of “Mobile Puppet show” for the students and faculty of National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), bringing art into life on the NCKU campus through a series of unforgettable art experiences. The shows will take place on November 12th at the lawn areas around the Student Activity Center on the NCKU Kuang-Fu Campus, allowing the university faculty and staff to participate in family-oriented performance activities during the university's anniversary celebration. Participants can also take a leisurely stroll, enjoying interactive puppetry performances integrated into the environment beneath the tree-lined corridors. This transforms the living spaces into venues for art experience, making the NCKU campus a source of happiness.
The Exhibition display of unique puppets brought to the viewers all the way from the Lìzé International Puppet Art Colony. The exhibition, with the theme "Journey Through Time and Space," is presented by the The Puppet & Its Double Theatre and features a diverse collection of inovative puppets with different operating styles and forms. Students will be able to grasp a comprehensive understanding of the diverse facets of contemporary Taiwanese puppetry through the immersive installation of puppets in the exhibition.
The Puppet & Its Double Theatre excels in emotionally-riched interpretations of puppetry and innovative and delicate performances. The exhibition features exquisitely crafted modern puppets from several classic scripts, including “On the Edge of Reality,” “Ashes of Snow,” “The Selfish Giant,” “Jian,””Whale Island,” ”Die on That Day,” and “Frogs in the Wonderland” It also unveils the secrets behind puppetry production, creation, and performance. Visitors can immerse themselves in the creative journey within the exhibition space and explore the mystical world of puppetry!
