The Concept of Design A Tribute to Laozi takes its inspiration from water's spontaneously malleable characteristic as it navigates and conforms to the laws of nature. Strong, yet effortless, the work gracefully shifts between various states as it finds its stance in the prevailing wind. At times, the work stands stationary and strong. Other times, it is simply stretching out contently. In a way, the adaptable nature of the work harkens to the Laozian idea that "water nourishes all things in the world, yet it does not contend". To this end, A Tribute to Laozi offers itself up as a humble homage to both Laozi and the Taoist philosophy. |
